Have you ever imagined creating beautiful art with homegrown Indian vegetables?

Meet Sowbhagya Lakshmi, from Vijayawada now a resident of Houston, Texas.

Sasidhar, son of Sowbhagya Laksh and his family loves to grow Indian vegetables in their home garden in Houston, especially vegetable varieties that are mainly used in South India cuisine.

Sasidhar has a beautiful garden and he is also an active member of a Facebook Group called “Indian Vegetable Garden” where fellow gardeners from India or having Indian roots share their knowledge or gain knowledge.

Before these homegrown vegetables turned into a mouth-watering curry or a popular South Indian fried delicacy, Sowbhagya Lakshmi gives them another dimension by arranging them together to express something that we never imagine, a beautiful and interesting veggie art.

Some of Sowbhagya Lakshmi‘s recent works featured in this article does show various expressions/traditions of life by carefully arranging homegrown vegetables to create the art.

In fact, I found it very interesting that they do convey a hidden message (Vegan Philosophy!!) even though these vegetables are from different plants, different in colors, shapes and of course offer different in taste, but if put together by people like Sowbhagya Lakshmi, collectively they can bring a beautiful expression to life.

Sowbhagya Lakshmi believes that every vegetable and plant is trying conveying something and she tries to convert that something in to an expression through her art. Since childhood, she had many many ideas but now with help of the home garden those ideas are now coming to life. She is also very proud of her son for his sincere and actively maintaining and managing their home garden in Houston.

Imagination is what makes people visualize things that are not visible to plain eye or in most cases does not even exist at all. Converting that imagination to reality with what is readily available, in this case, simple homegrown vegetables is a talent in itself and this what makes Sowbhagya Lakshmi a unique artist.

As per Sasidhar he is trying to catchup with his mom on this skill set which he intended to use in future to showcase more interesting art pieces on his blog which is yet to be launched.

Northeast Ohio Community Channel wishes Sowbhagya Lakshmi all the best and expected to see more great artwork featuring homegrown vegetables. NEOC Channel also thank Sridhar for providing these beautiful images.

Here are few Sowbhagya Lakshmi‘s creations for you to enjoy and hopefully inspire you to take up gardening as a hobby as well.
